March 20 2014
A DEBT collector has been given a suspended prison sentence, ordered to pay compensation and handed an indefinite restraining order after being found guilty of harassing a man living near Wells.
Nathan Mark Wilmot, also known as Willmott, aged 35, of Goss Drive, Street, appeared before Somerset Magistrates sitting at Yeovil.
He was found guilty of harassing Stephen Chitty by sending text messages demanding £10,000 in August last year. He also sent the victim a letter from his debt recovery business demanding a fee of £270 to cover investigation costs.
He was said to be acting for Antonia Chinn, who had alleged that Mr Chitty had attempted to commit mortgage fraud and theft of her equity.
